In the heart of Albania's capital, Tirana, the Pyramid of Tirana, originally built as a museum dedicated to communist dictator Enver Hoxha, has been radically transformed by MVRDV into an open sculpture within a new park. The structure now hosts colorful boxes inside and around the original building, containing cafes, studios, workshops, offices, incubators, and classrooms where Albanian youth can learn technology for free.

Initially opened as a museum in 1988, the Pyramid served various purposes after the fall of communism, including as a radio station, nightclub, conference center, and NATO base during the Kosovo War in 1999. Over the years, it became a symbol of Albania’s victory over dictatorship, and after extensive public debate, a decision was made in 2017 to transform the building into an educational space for Albanian youth, supported by the Albanian-American Development Foundation and Tirana Municipality.

In this project, Vakefi Glass contributed by installing high-performance glass solutions that enhance both energy efficiency and safety. The glass used includes:

Double Glazed Glass: ClimaGuard Solar 6mm + 16mm Argon Gas Space + 3:3:1 Laminated Glass.

This installation ensures optimal thermal insulation and solar control, while the laminated glass provides enhanced safety and security, making the structure both energy-efficient and resilient. Vakefi's expertise in glass installation played a key role in achieving these standards for the project.
